A few things:
• We, the staff, would like to send out a great big thank you to everyone who was involved in making band camps successful this year. Without such a team effort from parents and chaperones, we could not accomplish as much as we do. Showband is not easy; two weeks of sore muscles, groaning and complaining, stinky clothes and sunburn noses. The end result – a great showJ Isn’t band great!
• Just a reminder…all Showband unit members ride to and from away events together on the bus. Family and friends are encouraged to attend but students are not permitted to ride with parents.
That’s it!

Students are reminded of their responsibility for the proper care and appearance of their uniform
once they are assigned at the beginning of the season.
Students are responsible for any supplies needed for their instruments - reeds, valves, oils, sticks, lyres and all repairs. Be sure your instrument has been repaired and is in good working condition.

“All members must maintain a passing record in all classes but one. You will not be permitted to try-out if your grades are not acceptable based on this requirement. If you make the unit, fail more than one class for any given grading period, you will be put on probation and will not be permitted to perform. Students failing more than one class will not be permitted to go on the trip.”

Charma Chaussard and Janet Opalanko want to acknowledge all the generosity and hard work displayed by the parents.
The CV Band Booster booth at the Pre-Season Football Carnival on Saturday, August 23rd was a huge success, both in monetary value, and in the friendships made inside the booth. We met many dedicated and caring parents.
It is a pleasure for us to coordinate events in which we get to meet the parents and the children. Thank you for the donations, time worked in booth, and most of all the stories and laughs that made the day such a success.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Winter Tour will be appearing in Pittsburgh at the Mellon Arena on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:00 pm.
We are working on getting group tickets at a discount rate. However, after being in contact with Mellon Arena, they will not give us a block of tickets. We need to give them a total number of tickets requested up front, then they will give us the discounted price.
Therefore, if you are interested in joining us to see this amazing performance, please contact Dave or Pat Cooley at 412/344-2377 IMMEDIATELY. We need to turn in a total number of tickets very soon, as they go on sale to the general public right after Labor Day.
LATE REQUESTS FOR TICKETS CANNOT BE HONORED DUE TO RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE BY MELLON ARENA.

Greetings everyone! Hopefully you’ve found summer sun-filled and restful. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped with the transition between directors. We are organized and ready to begin home (and away) camp with renewed vigor and excitement for the season.
Please check out the modified start times for home camp. We will begin promptly at 7 AM each morning before it gets too hot. Band will finish at 1:30 Monday-Thursday. Drill team/ Majorettes will finish at 12:30. Friday’s schedule for everyone is 7- noon.
I have one other calendar change to pass on. The Friday, August 8th evening performance has been relocated to CV stadium. We will be leaving CAL early and coming home to perform our shows for family and friends. With the increase in fuel costs, the staff decided to bring the show home instead of asking families to drive. The show time will remain the same – 6:00 PM. I look forward to seeing everyone thereJ
If any questions arise, please feel free to contact me at tkelly@cvsd.net or leave a message on the music department phone at 412-429-2257.
